NYSUT Endorses NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli
Aug 10, 2018
ALBANY, N.Y. - NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, running for a third term, was endorsed today by the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), the largest public sector union in New York State.
“NYSUT is proud to once again endorse our longtime friend, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, for re-election. Tom truly cares about working families and his record shows it. He grew the state pension fund to an all-time high value with prudent investment decisions and is protecting the retirement security of over a million New Yorkers. With labor rights under attack, we need leaders at the state level who will protect our progressive values and make smart fiscal decisions for taxpayers. Tom is an ally our students, retirees, and working families can rely on,” said NYSUT President Andy Pallotta.
“It’s a honor to earn the support of NYSUT’s teachers, professors, school resource professionals, health care workers and all of their members. I grew up in a union household and I know what a pension means for working and middle class families, so I consider it a sacred trust to protect the pensions that so many families depend on for their retirement security. In these chaotic times, it is more important than ever to keep our commitment to growing the middle class and preserving our labor rights. I believe in New York, and I believe in unions. I believe that working together, we can defeat Washington’s extremism by committing ourselves to competent and fiscally responsible government,” said State Comptroller DiNapoli.
